Dane's 13th Birthday

February 28, 2016

That says it all. No more children only teens and young adults in this family. A true milestone for us.

To celebrate Dane's big day, we had a small party at It'z. It'z is a video game arcade/bumper cars/claw games/pizza buffet place. It was Dane's first choice for his gathering of friends. I bought them each an unlimited pass that included the buffet, bumper cars, and the video games. We were at It'z for 4 hours.
Here is the gang
Gavin, Ryan, Dane, Jaden, Jorge
Dane and Jaden try to win at a claw game. No luck.
Ryan plays a cube stacking game.
Jaden and Dane "ride" a mad wave motion game.
 Gavin raced cars.
Jorge and Ryan raced cars too.
I wouldn't dare ride with any of them after seeing them drive on the game!
Jaden and Dane play transformer shooting game.
The gang waits for a turn on the bumper cars.
 And they are off!
Cookie Cake time. 13 candles sure light up the table!
Dane got all the candles out in one blow!
Jorge gave Dane the funniest gift. It was a Dora the Explorer video called, "Puppy Party." The surprise was that inside the DVD case there was a gift card the Game Stop. The boys got a good laugh over that gift!
This picture is cool. Jorge was taking a picture of Dane using his phone. I took a picture of Jorge's screen. Cool, right?
Dane received many great gifts, gift cards, and cash. He was a happy birthday boy.
This collage sums up the fun party.
The boys had a great time and all got along so well together.
Happy birthday to my favorite 13 year old!

Andy's 8th Adoption

February 14, 2016

Andy has been a part of our family for 8 years today. We love him so much! He is a sweetheart and a Mama's boy.

February 13, 2016

The Sam Houston State Park is about a 40 minute drive North of us. Dane and I plus Andy, Ellie, and Iris loaded up with a picnic and headed out for a hiking adventure on Saturday.  Warm with a slight breeze, the weather was perfect!

We stopped for pup water breaks and took a few pictures along the way. Beautiful scenery!
Thanks to the "my tracks" ap we were able to map our route that ended up at 4 miles.
We found a picnic table/spot by the water. The dogs worked on some meat wrapped raw hid sticks while we fueled up.
We took each pup off leash one at a time to get some good photos. Andy was a perfect pup model while the girls where not very willing to be still for the camera! Silly girls!
Just across the highway stands the Sam Houston Statue. We drove over to check it out up close.
It is massive!
Time to head home. Andy and Iris crashed in the back. Ellie crashed on my lap.

 February 10, 2016

We saw it! We saw it! We saw the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile! Not only that, we went inside and talked to the two drivers. The drivers gave us the lowdown on their job, some wiener whistles, stickers, and postcards.
The best part of the story is the adventure that got us to the Wienermobile.

I had read online that the Wienermobile was in the Houston area. The schedule showed it being the closest to us that it would be on Wednesday from 1 to 4. On a whim, I checked Dane out of school at 2:30pm. (Shhh! Don't tell the district that the "Dr. Appt" was made up.) Dane was totally confused when he came to the office. I whisked him off before he could say anything that my expose my little white lie. (Because how many times do you get the chance to see the Wienermobile?)

We headed off with smiles and excitement to begin our afternoon adventure. We stopped for an extra special beverage for the road.
With drinks in hand, we hit the highway and were off towards Fiesta Mart to see the only heard about Wienermobile. GPS said we had a 20 min drive to get there. Unfortunately we got slowed down to a crawl thanks to a wreak on 45. Time was ticking away but we stayed the course. Finally, at 3:35pm we pulled into Fiesta Mart. The Wienermobile was nowhere to be seen!! What?!?

We pulled into a parking space to double check the Fiesta Mart address. That's when we discovered that we hadn't gone to the correct one. Eek! The clock was ticking so we reset GPS to the correct address and got back on the road. We had to make it by 4:00pm or we would be out of luck!

Of course traffic was still heavy but we were moving. Finally we hit our exit. We could see the Wienermobile from the access road but we had to make it through two looong lights to get there!! Double eek! At 3:55pm, we parked and jumped out of the car. We were so happy to have made it! We were "high fiving" as we raced up to the Wienermobile and stepped right inside the open side door. (The carpet was red with yellow lines on it. It looked like ketchup with squirts of mustard. Themed out!) Whew!

We had a nice chat with the drivers and learned all about their job. They loaded us up with goodies.  A nice lady passing by offered to take our picture in front of the Wienermobile. Yes, please!

The clock struck 4:00pm and the door to the Wienermobile closed. The drivers had packed up and were ready to drive off. We listened to the jingle play as we waved them away.

"I wish I were an Oscar Mayer Weiner
That is what I truly wish to be
Cause if I were a Oscar Mayer weiner
Everyone would be in love with me"

We were seriously bubbly and excited. It was so fun and funny! We had a great afternoon adventure and can now say that we saw the Wienermobile! Check!

(Before you ask- no, we did not have hotdogs for dinner! ha!)

Brenham Lunch

February 7, 2016

Dane and I drove to Brenham, Texas to meet Mason, who drove in from Pflugerville. We met at a restaurant called Made in Heaven on the square in Brenham. It was a soup, sandwich, and homemade pie kind of place. It was more about my handsome lunch dates than the food.
Another reason for the meeting was that Mason had received his senior packet at school the week before. We needed to place our order for his cap, gown, invitations, etc. Exciting!! We got all of that completed after we ate lunch.

We left the restaurant and walked around the square to stretch our legs and soak in some of the sunshine that was out. And of course we had to take some pictures!
Aren't we adorable??
I love my boys!
"Enough already mom!"
It was a nice day. So glad we got to be together for a few hours.

Brick Fest Live

January 24, 2016

Dane and I attended Lego Brick fest Live at the Houston Convention Center on a Sunday afternoon. Dane was in heaven!

We got him a cool shirt to commemorate the occasion.
Dane spent some time in the Red Zone building away.
All the bricks were red only.
Dane shows off his build of the sword in the stone.
Mini golf anyone?
 Giant Lego inflatable man!
We visited the glow in the dark zone. Very cool and bright!
Dane worked on a tile that upon completion was added to the Lego tile wall behind him.
We played on the Lego wall too.
We each built a race car for the track races.
There was some smack talking going on about who's car would be the fastest.
My car is in lane #3. Dane's car is in lane #4.
Time for Track 1 to race. Ready, set, go!
This snap shot shows how the cars finished. First place happy dance for Mom! Second place slightly happy dance for Dane!
After all that Lego excitement we headed over to Jus' Mac restaurant for a very late lunch. It was cheesy and delicious.
