Posted to my Face Book wall March 19th, 2014-
As of today, Ed Limbaugh is officially unemployed........... until Monday when he starts his new job in Houston with Halliburton. Big changes are coming our way! Wish us luck! (The boys will be finishing this school year here before we all make the big move.)

Posted to Ed's Face Book wall March 19th, 2014-
It's the bittersweet end of one era and the start of another grand adventure. On Monday I start a new role as project/system engineer at Halliburton in Houston, Texas.

My new role will be similar to my work at Ticom Geo: working with a team of R&D scientists to develop new sensing tools. This time, though, I will be building tools for oil field services like borehole evaluation instead of radio geolocation. The next several months will definitely be challenging and exciting!

It's been a very tough decision to choose to move to a new role in a new city after 4-1/2 years at Ticom Geo. Working there has been an amazing experience, and I am proud to have been part of the great work they're doing. Right now, though, the slump in defense work due to last year's sequester and the shift in focus by the DoD to other areas has been hard on the business. I'm sure they will do very well in the long run, but for our family's economic security, it's time to make a new move. And this will definitely be a terrific move! I'm really looking forward to starting at Halliburton next week.

Wayne and Lally gave us fabulous Christmas gifts in Decemeber- tickets for the family to see "Wicked" with them in San Antonio. All we had to do was wait until March 13th.

So on March 13th, the boys and Ed put on their fancy bow ties and we headed to New Braunfels to hook up with Grandad and Grandlally.
Not to be the odd man out, Grandad had on a bow tie too!
Wicked was being performed at the lovely Majestic Theater in downtown San Antonio.
We were all very excited to be there.
Here we are before the musical started.
None of us Limbaughs had seen the musical before. We were blown away!! It made us laugh AND cry. I got goosebumps from some of the singing. Not to mention the props and costumes. Amazing performance all the way around! It was a merry Christmas and a happy Spring Break all at once!

Guitar Hero

Back in February, Clark participated in a "Battle of the Rock Bands" for Honors Hall residents. He joined two bands, "I Haven't Showered Today But I'm Wearing a Jacket," and "Crash and the Boys." Each band won a category, see below.
He is having some fun in between classes and homework. :-)

For the Highland Park Black History Oratorical Contest, Dane chose a poem called, Buffalo Soldiers, by Latorial Faison. This poem tells a story of the history of Buffalo Soldiers and their contributions to America.

As in years before, to make it to the finals 2 rounds of the competition, students had to first compete against their classmates. The 5 winning students then competed against 20 others in their grade level. The top 12 were chosen to advance. Round 3 was a day time performance in front of the entire 3rd, 4th and 5th grade. Round 4, the final round, was a night time performance in front of parents. In each round, the students were also performing in front of a judge. Each time they advanced, the score followed them so that by the final round, the winners were chosen based on the total of all four performance scores. Congratulations to Dane for making it all the way for the 3rd year in a row!

Dane scored high enough to earn a first place trophy!
Here he is with the other 5th grade winners.
Dane's 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade teachers were part of the Oratorical team so I grabbed a pic with them all.

Blazer Tag Party

Party time!!
Dane invited a few friends for a party at Blazer Tag in South Austin.

back row: Mason, Bryan, Dane, Anthony, Clark
front row: Joel, Figgy, and Adrian
We purchased the "Supercharger" party which included 3 laser tag games, pizza, and arcade tokens.

We couldn't get pictures inside the 3 level laser tag room but we did get a shot of the "live" electronic read out board as the games go along. Everyone playing uses a code name. In this picture, you can see Dane's code name of "Commando," Mason's "Swag So Live," Clark's "Scrappy," and Joel's "Lil Josh."
Cake- Dane requested the Chocolate Coke Cake.
As an add on, there is a "Sky Tail" course at the top of the arcade. Mason and Joel gave it a go. They had fun!
By the end of this party, we were all pooped out! But what a fun couple of days we had celebrating Dane and his 11th birthday!

Family Party

On Dane's actual birthday night, we invited family and friends over for hot dogs and "minute to win it" styled games. The kids and adults enjoyed the games! Here are a few pictures.

Cup Stacking game

M&M Sorting game
Cookie Cakes!
Clark drove down from UNT to surprise Dane for his birthday.
Happy 11th birthday, Dane!

Red Bench Skit

Dane and friends performed in the HPES Talent Show in February (which was rescheduled due to inclement weather). Their skit was "The Red Bench" skit that originally came from the 70's TV show "Zoom."  Many years later, it is funny and easy, a perfect elementary aged skit.

Abigail played a mom, Adrian played a school boy, Mariza played a Girl Scout, Kennedy played a soccer player, and Dane played the painter.  After all the characters wind up sitting on the bench, the painter comes out to find them sitting on the bench he just painted. The kids all jump up, turn around, and revile red tape across their bottoms that represents the wet red paint. Very funny!

Here are pictures of the whole cast and the red bench!

The kids did a great job! They had the audience laughing!
When I get the video of the performance I will post it here.
