CR Smith Museum

On Thursday, Dane and I visited the CR Smith American Airlines Museum. Loving all things Lego, when we heard there was a traveling Lego exhibit there, we worked it into our mini-vacation. Good thing! What a great museum!
First thing in the door, there is a theater sporting airline seats and a digital high definition 42' X 36' screen. The movie showing is a 15 minute film called "Spirit of America." Perfect length and informational narrative for kids and short attention span moms- me!! There are some beautiful flying scenes over the Grand Canyon and snow covered mountains.

Earning room all to itself is The Flagship Knoxville- an American Airlines Douglas DC,
open for inside and outside viewing!
If you look closely, you can see my reflection..... on purpose, I might add!
Here are a few exhibit pics.
Dane is not as tall or wide as a jet engine. That is a good thing!
I admitted we were there for the Lego Exhibit so here goes.....
 Some hands on- Dane's favorite!
Everyone that knows us, is aware we seek out Lego events etc, so imagine our surprise when we found something completely new-- as in we have NEVER seen this anywhere we have been. Check it out! The kid builds some sort of transportation vehicle. They place it on the "x" in the green box. Then on the computer component, they add a background, a title, and a self picture. But wait, that's not all-- the kid can email it to them self and a friend. So cool!
This exhibit shows many different transportation modes.
Here is a detailed exhibit on ways to travel in the early 1900's...
all made out of Legos!

  Lego racing "around the world!"
Dane loved that!
One last shot from a great kid-friendly museum.

Grapevine Mini- Vacation

After we left Clark at his UNT dorm, Dane and I drove to Grapevine, Texas for a mini-vacation. We checked into the Gaylord Texan Resort to begin the fun! We got a room on the 9th floor with an atrium view. So lovely! Dane said it was "paradise!"

The resort had a small water park on the property. Dane and I spent time both days there. We also explored the scenic property and ate at one of the resort restaurants.

I didn't take my camera out of the room so the few pics I have were taken from my camera.

 Magical Dane in the atrium
 Chip Thief!!
 Lazy River!

On Wednesday we spent the late afternoon at Grapevine Mill Mall. We ate a late lunch at the Rainforest Cafe and spent a few hours in the Legoland Discovery Center. Good times!

UNT Move-In

Tuesday was move in day for Clark at UNT- sophomore year!! Woot! As a member of the Green Brigade Marching Band, he got to move in a week before classes start for intense all day marching and music rehearsals.

We left Pflugerville on Monday night and stayed the night in a hotel in Denton. Tuesday morning we pulled into the dorm circle drive at 9:03am to start unloading the van. Luckily, 5 music frat boys were there to help us. It was so much faster than last year.

Having the advantage of being in the same dorm again, the unpacking went super fast. In fact, from the beginning to the end (unloading, unpacking, Wal-Mart run and put away) was less than 3 hours!

Unloaded and in the room.
 Unpacked and set-up.
 Goofy moments with silly brothers.
Walmart fun!
Moments before the "mom tears" started flowing.
Clark is so excited to be back. I am excited, too. Still, I miss him.

Hawk Day

Hawk Day is a day for the football team, cheerleaders, and band to get an "on field" practice of what game nights will be like. The football team scrimmages, the cheerleaders cheer and do stunts, the band marches in and plays games songs. We went, of course, for the band and Mason!

The saxophones warm up before they march onto the field. Mason is on the far left in the white sunglasses.
Just outside the football stadium gates, ready to march in.
Go Hawks!
Our favorite saxophone player! Rock it, Mason!
 Mucho fun!

Asleep On The Couch

We found Dane and Iris ( who is 10 weeks old now) asleep on the couch together.
So cute! I had to share!
Iris woke up to the flash but Dane didn't.
