Highland Park started work last October raising funds to put in a crushed granite track at the school. Through community & business donations, a coin drive, and a PTO cash donation, the track dream became a reality. On February 13th, the ribbon cutting and honorary first lap took place.
Mrs. Craddock, Mason's former 5th grade teacher, spear-headed the track project. In the picture below, she is welcoming the guests and cheering on excited students, parents, and staff.
This is the moment of the ribbon cutting. Mrs. Craddock is joined by Mayor Jeff Coleman, former HPES principal Mr. Medina, Assistant Superintendent Dr. Terrence Eaton, current HPES principal Tana Ruckel, and HPES PTO President Nicki Huschka.
These are a couple of my favorite pics of the kids running the track.
Here comes Dane's class with Dane out front.
It was a fun celebration despite the chilly winds blowing!
