Russell the Sheep

UPDATE- Dane's pumpkin won "Best Use of Materials" for 3rd thru 5th grade. His prize was a goodie bag plus a $5 gift certificate to spend at the upcoming book fair! Awesome!

Dane, again this year, made a pumpkin character for the library contest. He choose Russell The Sheep from, "Russell and the Lost Treasure."

It took lots of cotton balls and glue. Yep! And pipe cleaners for the nose and mouth and Tylenol lids for the eyes. The hat was made from paper and felt pieces with a yarn pom-pom.

This is one of Dane's favorite school activities. He looks forward to it every year!

Alvin and Dane are so funny!

Pville Pflag

Ed made the local paper, "Pflugerville Pflag" from the night at the PISD Board meeting. Cute pink sign, huh?

Proud of PISD

This photo was taken by an Austin American Statesman photographer at a PISD Board Meeting on October 18th, 2012.

This is the caption printed under the picture in the Statesman...
About 150 community members attended the Pflugerville school board meeting on Thursday. The meeting was the first since the district announced plans to offer domestic partner benefits to employees of the district. Ed Limbaugh gave the board a thumbs up for the decision and spoke in favor of the decision. The crowd was made up of people in favor and people opposed to the decision.

At this contentious board meeting, Ed and I both spoke in favor of the decision to offer domestic partner insurance to PISD employees. We took the boys and signs. What a great social and humanity lesson for our Mason and Dane. A few years down the road, they will look back and wonder what all the fuss was about!

In the front row of this photo, you can see me and Nicki holding signs of support. Just over Ed's left shoulder you can see Mason who was also holding a homemade sign of support. Mason's sign read, "People are people first!" And if you look very closely on the bottom left corner of the photo, you can see the tip of Dane's shoe!

Halloween Food School Event

Once again, the HPES PTO held a Halloween Hospitality event in the library after school for the HPES staff. Chalked full of savory and sweet spooky foods, there was more then plenty for all!

Back by popular request, I made a "pukin' pumpkin." But instead of guacamole, this guy was pukin' roasted garlic hummus with black olive spiders.
I also took "mummy knuckles" that were my delicious spinach bacon roll ups. Behind them, in the polka dotted bowl is my Double Dill Dip. And somewhere in an owl bowl is Lally's broccoli salad. That bowl was scrapped clean!
This event is one of the favorites the staff looks forward to every year. Spooky, delicious, and fun!

Dane's Art

I am so excited and proud for Dane. Not only did he decide to audition for the Bulldog Honor Choir, which he made, he turned in original art work to be considered for the Honor Choir T-Shirt. While his design will not be on the t-shirt, his art came in 3rd place, I think he did the neatest and most detailed art work he has ever done!  I have to share it with everyone!

Look at the neat handwriting!! I didn't know he had it in him!

Great work, Dane!

Hawk Talent Show

Tonight was the Hendrickson High Talent Show. Mason, in a group of 6, performed a song called "Moon Dance" by Night Wish. Mason was on the drums for this performance.

We are very proud of Mason for signing on, seeing it through, and having the courage to be on stage in front of his peers. He is already thinking ahead to next year's talent show and what he might perform. Can't wait!
