Dane attended a week long Lego Summer Camp themed "Marvelous Machines." He absolutely loved it! Small groups of 3 each got a "Mind Storm" kit with which to work along with a new challenge/task to complete each day. Dane was grouped with another 9 year old and a 10 year old; Austin and Eddie.
I popped in early the first day of camp to get a glimpse of the work
they were doing and a picture of the machine they built and programmed
that day. Very exiting! Dane and Eddie were engrossed in programing when
I walked in.
Dane and Austin added some details to the machine.
Ta Da!! The completed machine!
Break down and clean up. They will start from scratch every day.
Dane had said he wants to go back to this camp as soon as he can. He also wants a "Mind Storm" kit for Christmas. :-)
That's my Lego loving boy!
Mason and Joel are attending Longhorn Music Camp this week, located on the UT campus. We went up to get Mason to his audition, check in, and basic room put-together. In their room, we helped make the bed (Mason and Joel ended up bringing identical sheets- color and all!) and get the drinks in the mini fridge. They are on the 13th floor of Jester Dorm.
These pictures are a mix from my phone and Joel's Dad, Daniel's camera.
These saxophone playing boys are going to have a blast this week. We are looking forward to hearing the end of camp concerts next weekend.
Wednesday was day 2 at Sea World for Haley, Dane, Vanessa and myself. Since we had a free day on our tickets we went back for shows and rides. The first show that we caught was the Shamu show. Once again the kids sat in the "splash zone" while I sat up higher to stay dry. Here are some pictures from this killer show! (Get it? Killer show? Killer whales?)
The kids are seated right in front of the stream of water that is shooting out of the ground as Shamu swims by.
And this is what Shamu gave them! Big time splash zone!
One of the rides that I could get a picture of was the Rio Loco. Here come the kids! The girls are in purple and Dane is in a white hat.
Lunch time at the Rio grille.
The kids played a couple of board walk games. At this game Haley and Dane won "medium prizes" and Vanessa won a "medium" and "small prize."
In the duck pond game, all three kids won seals.
We stopped at the seal and sea lion area. Here Dane and Vanessa look through the glass at the sea lions down below. You can see one in the water.
We bought a tray of food so the kids could feed them. I missed Vanessa feeding her part but caught Dane and Haley with fish in the air.
Mama and baby
From there we went to the Sea Lion Stadium for the Cannery Row Caper Show. You can see the kids in the front row watching the pre-show character. Those crazy kids were in the splash zone yet again!
We stopped by Dolphin Cove for a hands on experience. They are so beautiful!
Ha! Thought this one was going to swallow the camera!
We left the park as it closed. Half way home I got happy meals for the kids to eat while we finished the drive back to Pflugerville.
On Thursday, we slept in!! Once we came to life, Haley gathered up her stuff and packed. We taught her to play "Chicken Foot," and had lunch at the house. We said our goodbyes and Ed took Haley to the airport. We enjoyed our visit with her!
Tuesday was Sea World Day 1! Michelle and I took this group of kids to San Antonio for some cool fun at the Aquatica Water Park, Sea World's newest attraction. But first, a group pic in front of Sea World's front gates. Dane helpfully points out their location on the park map.
Just inside the front gates we run into none other than Shamu himself! You know we had to stop for a picture with the famous Killer Whale!
The camera stayed locked up in our locker most of the day but I did get a few shots for the blog. Here, Haley was going to sit with the others to do a group slide. She got to the top and slipped so she went down ahead of the group.
Then Vanessa, Lizzie, and Dane went down the slide.....
... and they all met in the pool!
I got some shots of the kids getting onto a tube slide. Thumbs up from Dane!
Vanessa is next!
Lizzie and Haley line up for their turn!
After lunch, we went back to the water park for more water fun.
Around 5:00p we gathered everyone up and headed to the ICEE place.
Yummy, cold, and they could mix their own flavors from the 10 choices!
For our last activity of the day, we caught the "Azul" Dolpin and Beluga show. The kids sat in the "splash zone" while Michelle and I sat in the "smart people zone."
About 15 mins before the actual show starts, a funny and entertaining pre-show takes place in the audience and on the dancing water blocks. The picture below shows the character from the pre-show getting water dumped on his head, and 3 of our kids in the bottom left hand corner! Sweet! Below that are some show pictures. Not bad for the little point and shoot I had taken along.
The kids posed with the girl performer that hung from the hoola hoop and did tricks in the air.
They also posed with the pre-show character and one of the costumed divers.
Meanwhile, Ed took 6 teens to Schlitterbahn for a day of water fun.
Mason, Jessica, Rachel S, Ed, Rachel M, Ally, Clark
They met up with Granlally and Grandad for lunch. Then they played the rest of the day away.
Later that evening, we all met up at Mama Cita's Restuarant in New Braunfles for dinner.
Table for 16 please!~
Mason and Rachel
After a yummy dinner, we all drove home to Pflugerville where we promptly crashed and burned! That was one long, full, fun day!
